parent teacher conference today...

It went well.

the teacher said that his interactions with other kids are slowly getting better.

He does ask for things when he wants them...

He does some coloring, but not much at all.

he does not know his colors for her (or me, but Rod can get him to color identify)

He doesn't cut well with scissors.

Speech therapy in school is going... okay. none of his goals are met yet.

i told her that i would really like for them to focus on yes and no answers out of him, and on more group interaction. So we'll see how that goes...

2 stitches....

Dominic was swinging earlier, and wiggling around on his swing to make it go all cockeyed... and hit his head on the wooden 4x4 support beam. It was one of those moments you kind of watch in slow motion thinking you can catch him in time... didn't catch him. 2 stitches... he got about an inch and a half long gash, pretty deep. They wanted to staple it, but i asked for sutures instead.

i'm a bit... post trauma twitchy at the moment.

More good inchstones....

On Friday, Dominic's preschool teacher had found a HUGE bumblebee in the playground, and caught it for the kids to look at. It was in a Jar. apparently Dominic spent a large portion of the afternoon gazing at it through a magnifying glass. So when i got there to pick him up, I asked what I ask every day... "Did you have fun today" And he actually answered me with a tiny little "yeah". This is huge, he's never actually answered that question. His teacher about jumped up and down. She's decided she needs to find a cool bug every day.

This weekend, Dominic made a fort in the living room. Well, I made it, and then he loved it. it involved chairs and cushions and blankets, and turned into a cool little cave where he took his thomas the train for a good long while. Great imaginative play. He giggled madly.

~~~~~~~
We went shopping yesterday, and as is his pattern, Dominic brought along a favorite toy. His choice of the day was a motorcyle. He dropped it in the car, and cried for me to pick it up. So i did. I held it, looked at him, and said "What is this" and he looked at me, looked at it, and said "Its a bike"
~~~~~~~

So we're getting some back and forth verbal interaction, which is great. We're also getting lots of non-answers, and jargon.

inchstone... imaginative play

The last few days, we've both noticed Dominic doing imaginative play - he has been feeding us both imaginary food and giving us imaginary hats.

This is good. this is the first real imaginative play we've seen....

Growth spurt anyone?

Tonight Dominic ate an entire adult portion of dinner - so, 4oz chicken breast wrapped around 2Tb of cream cheese and all wrapped up in 2 slices of bacon. Then he ate some soy beans (we had edamames, he got to eat them shelled), and the better part of an apple.

so going to be in trouble when he's 13
